This exhibition showcases 10 representative works from Guo’s Scan Object series. She scanned objects such as flowers and toys to preserve their evanescent existence. The difference between scanned objects and photography is that the scanned images appear to be the opposite images of the photographed images. As the scanned object is in complete contact with the scanner’s flat bed while its light bar continuing scanning scans through the object, the resulting image is often shown to be more a substantial existence more concrete and true than a camera image.
