Yao Hai

Final selection of Artist-In-Residence Programme 2016 of K11 art village, Wuhan
Yao Hai was born in Gansu, China, in 1980. He emigrated to Hong Kong in 2009 and travelled around the world right after that. Currently he lives and works in Shanghai and New York. Yao’s practice spans installation, photography, sculpture, painting, video, performance, and sound.
Yao’s recent solo exhibitions include zero+one+twelve (55 Gallery, Shanghai, 2017), Free Play of Deconstruction (United Art Museum, Wuhan, 2017), and Beyond Boundaries (K11 art village, Wuhan, 2016). His works were previously exhibited at Artist & Location (CICA Art Museum, Seoul, 2016), Art Yellow Book (CICA Art Museum, Seoul, 2015), Queens Art Connection (Queens Museum, NYC), Over the Edge: Paperworks Unbound (Williamsburg Art & Historical Centre, NYC) etc.
